The department of anesthesiology has a team of consultants, operating department assistants, recovery room nurses and technicians who together manage the fully equipped operating theatres, post-operative recovery beds, emergency and ambulance services.
The anesthesiologist is responsible for the preoperative assessment of the patient, carefully considering both the patient's current health and the planned surgery.
Acute and chronic pain management is a priority for our department. Anesthesiologists also care for critically ill patients in the Surgical ICU and Cath lab, and lead the Rapid Response team.
