Lokpriya Heart Centre provides you a wide range of interventional procedures in Cardiology. The Invasive Cardiology Department has accomplished angiographies, complex Coronary Angioplasties including Rotablation, FFR guided PCI for Intermediate Lesions, Endovascular procedures like Aortoiliac Angioplasty, Aortic Aneurysm, Dissection Management, Carotic Stenting and Birth Defects. These procedures are assisted by imaging guidance such as IVUS and OCT used in complex Angioplasties and 3D TEE, CT Imaging during structural heart procedures.

Our state-of-the-art Biplane Cath Labs provide comprehensive cardiac care, supported by dedicated staff members who are available round-the-clock. The unit has achieved record time protocols in primary Angioplasty (Acute Heart Attack Angioplasty).

Lokpriya Heart Centre has a dedicated Heart Station, which is well equipped with instruments and machines of latest technology to offer you a wide range of Diagnostic Cardiology procedures:

Angiography

Angiography is an imaging test that uses X-rays to view your body’s blood vessels. The X-rays provided by an angiography are called angiograms. This test is used to study narrow, blocked, enlarged, or malformed arteries or veins in many parts of your body, including your brain, heart, abdomen, and legs. A coronary angiogram is an X-ray of the arteries in the heart. This shows the extent and severity of any heart disease, and can help you to figure out how well your heart is working.

Heart Valve Repair

Valve repair can usually be done on congenital valve defects (defects you are born with) and has a good success record with treating mitral valve defects.Valvuloplasty strengthens the leaflets to provide more support and to let the valve close tightly. This support comes from a ring-like device that surgeons attach around the outside of the valve opening.Repair of structural support replaces or shortens the cords that give the valves support (these cords are called the chordae tendineae and the papillary muscles). When the cords are the right length, the valve can close properly. Patching covers holes or tears in the leaflets with a tissue patch. You can expect to stay in the hospital for about a week, including at least 1 to 3 days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Recovery after valve surgery may take a long time, depending on how healthy you were before the operation.

Pacemaker

A pacemaker is a small device that's placed under the skin in your chest to help control heartbeat. Pacemakers are implanted to help control heartbeat. They can be implanted temporarily to treat a slow heartbeat after a heart attack, surgery or medication overdose. Or they can be implanted permanently to correct a slow or irregular heartbeat or, in some people, to help treat heart failure.

Angioplasty

Angioplasty is a minimally invasive endovascular procedure used to widen narrowed or obstructed arteries or veins, typically to treat arterial atherosclerosis.A deflated balloon attached to a catheter (a balloon catheter) is passed over a guide-wire into the narrowed vessel and then inflated to a fixed size. The balloon forces expansion of the blood vessel and the surrounding muscular wall, allowing an improved blood flow. A stent may be inserted at the time of ballooning to ensure the vessel remains open, and the balloon is then deflated and withdrawn. Angioplasty has come to include all manner of vascular interventions that are typically performed percutaneously.

CABG (Bypass Surgery)

Coronary bypass surgery redirects blood around a section of a blocked or partially blocked artery inheart. The procedure involves taking a healthy blood vessel from leg, arm or chest and connecting it below and above the blocked arteries in heart. With a new pathway, blood flow to the heart muscle improves.
